Students and faculty are drawn to places where remarkable science is taught and practiced. Buildings that promote engagement and discovery must live up to their promise by creating environments that encourage dynamic, interactive team-based learning, and cross-disciplinary spaces that foster multi-disciplinary collaboration.
We work with faculty and students to understand the issues that drive good teaching and academic research: how students learn, and how faculty collaborate in research. Our planning and design efforts are guided by these issues, as well as by institutional mission, project goals and the imperatives of budget and schedule.
Over the past six years, 11 of our laboratory projects have been recognized for excellence in planning and design. Three have received national acclaim: from the Governor General of Canada, from the American Institute of Architects and from R&D Magazine's Lab of the Year competition.
