City of Hope
Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center for Cancer Immunotherapeutics & Tumor Immunology
Duarte, California
Completion Date: 2009
Square Footage: 108,000

City of Hope is a most unusual and remarkable place where some of the world's most knowledgeable physicians, researchers, scientists and healthcare professionals join forces to treat cancers and other life-threatening diseases. These experts provide state-of-the-art patient care and conduct leading-edge research. City of Hope has formalized the Division of Cancer Immunotherapeutics & Tumor Immunology (CITI) by creating a new building to integrate a multidisciplinary group of scientists and physicians with a translational research mandate. The CITI division establishes a center of research excellence in the field of cancer immunotherapeutics. The center has the unique capability of allowing researchers to develop new drugs, conduct clinical trials and administer these drugs to hospital patients. Researchers refer to this as a "bench to bedside" operation.

The functional components of this 5-story building include research labs, laboratory support spaces and equipment rooms; a radiopharmacy suite; a GMP-compliant cell production plant; faculty offices; space for post-docs, administrative and regulatory affairs groups; break and conference rooms; and all necessary building infrastructures to support this program. The facility also houses City of Hope's graduate school, which includes the dean's suite, an auditorium, classrooms and a dining facility.
