Our revitalization plan for the 1962 Lory Student Center is a “living document” that will serve as a guide for growth and change. The plan creates clear circulation and connections, strengthens diverse programs through improved spaces and adjacencies, and maximizes the relationship to the landscape. It recommends a phasing strategy which will serve as a guide for University growth and change in the coming years.

Four key objectives include: theatre renovations for flexible, multipurpose venues; expansion of the ballroom and food court; reorganization of student diversity programs and services to maximize strategic relationships; and redevelopment of the West Plaza and its surrounding landscape to support campus and community events. Phase I, the theatre renovation, is currently underway.

Our planning process has been inclusive and collaborative, with a great deal of input from students, staff and faculty. A “visioning charrette” early in the process involved extensive user interviews and tours, and a rigorous exploration of planning and design concepts.
