Corixa occupies three floors of the 9th and Stewart Building, a midrise building in downtown Seattle. The facility provides new office and laboratory space for the Corixa Corporation. The concept of the design brings all visitors to an eleventh floor lobby with adjoining common facilities for Corixa employees including a large seminar room, cafeteria, full-service kitchen, library and exercise room. Finishes on this floor reflect the Corixa culture and include reclaimed wood, terrazzo, plaster and black steel. The typical floor provides for office and research space with office and lab support. The office space is planned to allow for daylighting and views, with sliding wood doors in the offices for efficiency of space. The labs are designed to be flexible and open and include glasswash, media preparation, dark rooms, fermentation, mass spectrometry, formulation labs, hot labs, facs labs, cold rooms and freezer storage. The facility accommodates R&D, pre-clinical and process science groups.
