Gwinnett Hospital System began as a small county hospital. Today, it has evolved into a multiple campus organization providing a continuum of care to the residents of Gwinnett County, Georgia. One part of this growth can be seen at the 175,000 square foot Gwinnett Medical Center - Duluth. The first components of the Duluth campus were designed by us more than 10 years ago. The original structures included a medical office building and a connected diagnostic and treatment center to house ambulatory surgery and imaging services. The structures were designed with a unique connecting gallery and circulation system that was planned to someday accommodate the incorporation of a full inpatient facility that would replace the nearby Joan Glancy Hospital. That "someday" became reality with the completion of the 81-bed, first all-digital hospital in the north Atlanta area. It combines a quiet, healing environment of warm colors, soft, indirect lighting and natural elements of stone and wood with the latest state-of-the-art digital technology. The final result is a warm, friendly campus with distinct circulation systems and entrances for outpatients and inpatients while allowing the efficiencies of combined logistical functions that support both areas of the facility.
