The aerodynamic design of this building reflects aviation's innovative character and the school's highly technical program. The building establishes a signature presence on campus by providing a new entrance to the college and completes and encloses the central courtyard.
The school houses the latest technology in avionics including three aircraft simulator labs, which project images of landing strips around the world; pilot briefing rooms; computer classrooms; lounge space; conference rooms; a bookstore and cafeteria. A 67-foot high traffic control tower, clad in stainless steel, anchors the corner of the site. It provides teaching space with a 180-degree simulator screen for the school's federally approved program.
A turquoise glass cube housing a 2-story exhibition space, lobby and large multipurpose room announces the campus' main entrance to the south. The gently curving façade of the main lobby provides a window into the school's activities and a wall of light illuminating the courtyard, which reinforces a sense of community.
