The Owen Sound Community Recreation Centre is a 125,000 SF joint venture between the City of Owen Sound and the YMCA. The program of the building includes an aquatics centre, gymnasium, fitness centre, running track, multi-use rooms and twin pad arena with associated change rooms and ancillary spaces.

Located at a prominent intersection the building acts as an important gateway element as one enters the downtown core. Designed with an open and engaging south facing street façade that combines large expanses of glass, extensive overhangs and canopies and a generous pedestrian entry court the building creates an animated streetscape. Extending to the west of the building, an existing park connects to the building offering a direct linkage of indoor and outdoor recreation and leisure programming.

The building employs high tech and low tech sustainable principles in its site design and building components.
