The East Side Branch YMCA in Rochester is located among 48 wooded acres. The building is the first phase of a master plan that will include ball diamonds, soccer pitches, day camp, exterior pools, beach volley ball and tennis courts. Programmatically, the facility will be approximately 60,000 SF and provide a natatorium with two pool tanks, gymnasium, fitness area, community/multipurpose rooms, child watch, teen centre, climbing wall and change rooms.

At present the schematic design situates the one-story building in close proximity to the street and allows easy access into parking. The layout will allow future expansion of the building, parking and access roads into the site.

Internally, an entry hall with a central welcoming counter allows views into the fitness, pool and child watch areas. Connection to the future exterior activities are provided off this entry hall. Program spaces are located to either maximize exposure to the community or be connected to the surrounding landscape.
