After an extensive programming and pre-lease analyses, Skadden's selection of 155 North Wacker Drive launched the development of this new building. In collaboration with a broad consulting team, we worked with Skadden to alter the proposed base building to meet their design and functional criteria including selected areas for floor reinforcement, base building toilet rooms, beam penetrations for HVAC ducts, slab-to-beam heights, mullion spacing and curtainwall glass selection. Visitors are greeted with spectacular city views at the grand reception area of their conference floor. With 12-foot ceilings, refined architectural detailing and elegant furnishings, this full-floor conference facility provides flexible meeting, catering and audio-visual capabilities to accommodate gatherings from 6 to 250 people. Complimentary planes of illuminated glass, Mozambique wood, crème-colored lacquer panels and crema ella marble create a subtle and sophisticated palette that reflects Skadden'ss image.
Practice floors are designed to support the work processes of this global firm including careful design of secretarial clusters and paralegal and associate offices to optimize workflow, technology access and flexibility. Ample support spaces include flexible case rooms, meeting rooms, teleconference rooms, legal library, coffee/kitchenettes and print/copy facilities. Private partner offices feature customized "work walls" in the finish and configuration requested by each attorney. The facility also has an administrative floor that houses the 24/7 tech center, print/copy, mail/shipping and records retention operations. It also houses a full-service cafeteria and fitness center. Construction of this project was completed in less than six months.
