Interior Design

We helped St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center consolidate of all their inpatient neurological services into a single tower to improve physician and resident productivity and provide a family- and patient-focused neuro center. Our design concept also helped clarify and simplify wayfinding and circulation for patients, families, visitors and staff while enhancing the image of St. Joseph's to the community.

The construction of the Neuroscience Tower addition was phased to allow the hospital to remain fully operational. The project included renovations to the existing pharmacy, sterile processing department, general surgery suite, clinical laboratory, central plant, main admitting and lobby.

Presentations of the project were made to local community councils in a public setting to obtain input. Due to this collaborative process, the project was fully supported by the public and unanimously approved by the commission. As a result, the expanded services include 64 intensive care beds, 80 acute beds, 11 neuro operating rooms including a 3T interoperative MRI, 44 PACU beds, 24 pre-op beds and two diagnostic MRIs.
