The multi-phase Century Project at St. Mary's Hospital & Regional Medical Center is anchored by the 12-story patient bed tower. The project involved a new and renovated emergency department, operating rooms and a variety of inpatient beds, all accomplished while St. Mary's provided full hospital operations.

Family birthing is a key stakeholder in the tower. The 12 LDRs and two C-section ORs are co-located with the 24-bed NICU, 2-bed "rooming-in" for parents and a 4-bed transitional nursery positioned between the two departments for infants who need additional observation. The 32-bed post-partum unit is located one floor above the labor rooms. The balance of the bed tower includes a 32-bed ICU and 30-bed orthopedics unit.

This new inpatient environment is oriented to maximize the views to the stunning mesa and inspiring surrounding landscape. Daylight generously and intentionally saturates both clinical and support space throughout.
