Trent Community Sport & Recreation Centre
Peterborough, Ontario
Square Footage: 80,000
LEED Gold Targeted
The institutional goals for this project were to provide space for new and expanded programs, support student recruitment and summer programs, generate new sources of revenue and strengthen partnerships with the local Peterborough community.
The revitalized complex is sited along the western shore of the Otonabee River and creates a prominent entry point at the new West Bank entrance to the campus. The project is planned in two phases. Phase I addition and renovations include a fitness center, rowing center with combination rowing/paddling tank, sports medicine clinic with therapy pool and cardio room, weight area and classroom space. The expansion takes full advantage of its relationship to the site with views out to the river and easy access to existing docks and launch sites for outdoor training. Phase II, a future student center addition to the west, will share the complex's lobby space and link to existing multi-use spaces and lounge areas.
