The Dreyfus University Center is located at the heart of the Stevens Point campus and serves as the community center for the entire campus. The original building, constructed in 1958, had undergone three additions, had outgrown its space and needed improved wayfinding and a more vibrant presence within the community.

Our feasibility study and master plan set goals and objectives in place informing the ultimate design of the center. This planning process also helped develop clear consensus among a diverse university population. Fueled by student engagement and with meaningful faculty and staff input, we facilitated a series of interactive workshops that helped forge a powerful design direction focused on rejuvenating the aging center.

The creation of a welcoming new entrance facing the center of campus has enabled the Dreyfus Student Center to reclaim its place as the center of student activity. A 200-foot entry concourse links dining, lounge, bookstore and ballroom with all student services and retail amenities including an information center, bank, night club and multicultural resource center. Lounges and informal student study areas are nestled along this active pedestrian concourse with discrete views into other portions of the center. Student-oriented programs including a café, brew house, night club and a movie theater generate activity well into the evening and on weekends.
